Angaadi Theru

“Angaadi Theru” - another low budget tamil movie which made a huge success in box office, written and directed by national award winner director Vasanthabalan (Veyil fame).
The movie has a strong screenplay and a perfect direction, even though the story is very simple and many of sequence are earlier seen in some Tamil movie, still its been well blended to entertain the audiences. It shows the painful life of the poor remote village youngsters who come to Chennai and works for low salaries in big shops as sales person. The movie goes behind Jyothi Lingam (Mahesh), a 12th standard school topper, who is forced to come to Chennai from his small village in Tirunelveli for himself and for his family (mother and 2 sisters) livelihood, due to sudden death of his father in an accident.
He comes to Chennai with his friend Marimuthu (Pandi) to join as a sales guy in a big garment shop, Senthil Murugan Stores run by a big Anachi, in Ranganathan street, T.Nagar – Chennai.
Here his life was miserable, the staffs were very much ill treated by the management (poor accommodation, food, and heavy labor work). It seems to be like some jail and if anybody questions the management they will be thrown out of job. Since job is very much important for all the guys there, everyone remain quite and listen to the management, the lady staff too were very much ill treated. The hard reality is shown. From the heavily crowded living area and the long and hard working hours to the strict, abusive and molesting floor supervisors.
Among all these sufferings the only happiness for Lingam was Kani (Anjali), she too works as a sales girl there; she has a sister who works as a maiden in a Brahmin’s house. Lingam falls in love with Anjali and within the huge labor work their love keep on moving, director has well used the shop as the background of the movie without boring the audience.
The movie progresses forward showing the lead pair’s lives, difficulties they face and then end with a real touching and inspirational climax. The director has maintained that balance beautifully.

One day Lingam questioned one of the manager for ill treating Anjali, then both of them has to face many miserable situation, they were thrown out of the job, the management made a false theft case on them, etc, but both of them still managed to survive, but sometime fate is more cruel, they met with a road accident, what happen to them later, and how they managed to survive, turns to be the climax for the movie!!.
Along with the main story the director had shown the life of many other people like roadside sales people, cleaners, etc. The dialogues and scenes are well written that they touch the audience mind.



Realistically shot at the Ranganathan street would be a tough task during the peak time. The camera man does deserve a huge applause for showing Ranganathan Street as it is.
The real appreciation would go to Anjali (Kani). She has done a superb job from the bubbly naughty girl to the face she changes the expression soon after getting trashed by the supervisor, and attending the customer with a smile in her face. She does a job which is very close to reality. Mahesh as Jothilingam has done a decent job and supported Anjali throughout the film.

The music by Vijay Antony and Prakash Kumar are excellent.

The songs are all very well written with real good lyrics. Vasanthabalan has picked the best from his 2 music directors.

Kites

“Kites”- Hrithick Roshan starring big budget movie kites released in India on 21st May 2010, high expectations, gossips about the movie came to an end. After watching the movie still confused whether a bollywood or a hollywood movie, anyway it is bollywood masala mixed old hollywood movie.

Kites is not upto the expectation, BIG Cinema who has taken the distribution rights of Kites has done a great marketing, which gives a little push to this kite to fly little higher.

The movie is very slow basically,in many sences we forget whether it is an bollywood movie or some old English movies with very less Hindi dialogues. Action sequence are done well with maximum perfection but are so little when compared to movies like DHOOM2 (which is also a romance - action movie), Hrithik and Barbara Mori has done their part of work well. The story goes with an India guy Jai (Hrithik Roshan) who is poor and do anything for money, he is a dance teacher in Las Vegas. Once for money he agrees to marry Gina (Kangana Ranaut), she is daughter of a rich business man (Kabir Bedi) in las Vegas. Jai met a Mexican Lady Linda (Barbara Mori), she is going to get married with Gina’s brother Tony (Nick Brown). Jai knows Linda before,since she was his last of the immigrant women he married for green card. Jai falls love with Linda and they tries to escape from Tony, this takes the rest of the movie, the car chases, jumping sequence (similar to old english movies).

Movie is produced by Rakesh Roshan and directed by Anurag Basu, music score was done by as usual Rajesh Roshan, the cinematography by Ayananka Bose is good.

Cast Hrithik Roshan, Barbara Mori, Nick Brown, Kabir Bedi, Kangana Ranaut.

Movie is watchable.

Alexander the Great

“Alexander the Great” - the latest movie from Mohanlal is a simple and soft movie to watch. This movie is much different from other movies, where the hero is alone with no pairing and romantic sequences. Mohanlal plays the title role of Alexander who is little abnormal but very much intelligent, such that he memorizes anything by just reading it once. Though the story line is common in many of the malayalam movies ( like a rich father, who after death reveals his WILL document that this property should be given to his son but this relatives wants it, so they try to kill him and finally the son succeeds and gets his fathers property), in this movie too,a rich father played by Saikumar in Dubai, has a son (Bala) but he had illegal relation with another lady in Mumbai and they have a son (Alexander - Mohanlal), in his WILL he has written all his wealth to his son Alexander, now if Alexander dies then 40% of Saikumar wealth will go to his relatives (Sidique, Ganesh,etc) and 30% goes to Bala, 30% to a trust, otherwise everything goes to Alexander alone. SO the relatives decided to Kill him, and Bala decided to go and meet Alexander and get legal power from him so that he Bala can take the wealth. BUt for their surprise, Alexander is in mental rehabilitation center under the treatment of doctor Kora (Nedumudi Venu). Some how Bala brings ALexander to Dubai, after reaching Dubai what happened to Alexander , who got the wealth, all these are the rest of the movie.
Movie directed by Murali Nagavally, though the concept behind the movie is good and new, it lacks a director experience, and week screenplay.

Movie is watchable for weekend.

Katha Thudarunnu

“Katha Thudarunnu” - the latest movie from Sathyan Anthikad - Jayaram team released this friday, this time Sathyan-Jayaram had disappointed the viewer. The director has tried to make a difference in the story line and script by giving importance to the situation and story rather than the actors, which is a good attempt but in that case the story line should be much strong to hold the viewers. Though the viewers doesn’t feeling boring but the movie is too slow. The subject is very common with expected twists. Director has brought all his usual actors, KPAC Lalitha, Mamukoya, Inocent, and others, but they have very few things to do in the movie.
Illiaraja did the music score but songs are not so good as other Sathyan movies.

Paappi Appacha

“Paappi Appacha” - the new movie from Dileep and after a break once again Kavya casting pair to Dileep. Paappi Appacha is a small, humor mixed movie with Innocent plays as the Appachan(Father) - Nirappel Mathayi, and Dileep as his son Nirappel Pappi, both father and son likes each other very much and behaves as friends, they became rich recently and as usual people have enmity with them, the enemies need to get Pappi and his appachan to be separated so that they can defeat them easily, Kavya is a school teacher works in pappi’s school, and Pappi loves her from his childhood itself, but she doesn’t like him. Later in the movie she comes to know how good hearted he is and starts loving him. Meantime Pappi and his appachan had a quarrel and got separated, their enemies utilized their situation and rest of the movies show how they solve the problems and once again lives happily. Asokan did a good work in this movie being a humor villen.

music score is by Vidhya Sagar, but this time Vidhya Sagar couldn’t make his music magic to work, the songs are not great like his previous Dileep movies.

SURA

SURA- The 50th movie from Ilaya Thalapathi Vijay, this time again Vijay disappointed, with very weak story and screenplay. Similar to his previous movie Vettaikaran, Sura also come under same class, just a super star movie with lot of songs in unwanted situations, action sequence, punch dialogues etc. The songs by Mani Sharma were catching one with lot of punch effects in them, but the director had miserably failed to bring this impact on the picturization. There is no much to say about the movie, as usually hero (Sura) is in a poor background (this time a fisher man) has dream to bring up his community people (better living shelter, food, etc), Sura lives and do anything for his people, Tamana who is from rich family falls in love with Sura in first sight by knowing that he a good hearted person, rest as usual Vijay movie, fights with Villian, songs with heroin, Vadivelu, did his worst performance in this movie, he couldn’t make even a single scene where viewers can atleast smile.
